Committee

Mansfield Choral Society has Charitable Status, is governed by a constitution in line with the requirements of the Charity Commission, and is currently administered by a Committee of eight:

Jean Dalton Chair and Concert Secretary
Colette Baldwin Treasurer
Penny Lawler Secretary
Sue Neat Minutes Secretary
Jean Coates Librarian
Mike Allen
John Riley
Liz Roughton

The activities of the committee are complemented by input from many choir members who give their time and effort voluntarily, in a wide range of ways, including catering and publicity, which is greatly appreciated.

Some committee responsibilities:

Concert Secretary:
This role includes the location and booking of concert venues; and liaison with the orchestra coordinator. Accompanists and artistes must also be engaged in consultation with the Musical Director. Of the three concerts each year, two are held at Queen Elizabeth’s School. The Easter/ Spring concert is normally held in Southwell Minster although other venues are also used.

Librarian:
This role involves membership of the Music Committee, hiring of scores for pieces chosen by this committee, purchase of some copies for individuals, the issuing, retrieval and returning of these to lending libraries. At the moment, no charge is made by the choir for hiring.

Voice stewards:
These members represent each section within the choir. They do not need to be committee members but act as links between the membership and the committee. Their role is also to welcome new members and coordinate seating; and they are especially busy on Study Days and concert days.
