Message from the MCS Chair, Jean Dalton
‘‘Mansfield Choral Society, which has been in existence for over 30 years, is a choir of just under one hundred singers. We meet weekly in Mansfield, produce three main concerts per year in Mansfield, Southwell or Nottingham, perform a very wide repertoire of traditional and modern choral music, and pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming. Singers of all ages are always welcome, young voices included.
It is the choir’s good fortune to have found a superb Musical Director in David Wilson; and we are proud to have received excellent feedback on concerts. Here is a review of the last Southwell Minster Concert, featuring amongst other works ‘A Sea Symphony’ by Vaughan Williams.’’
‘The combined choirs of Mansfield Choral Society and Bingham and District Choral Society with the Mansfield Symphonia, under the baton of David Wilson, gave a stirring and very atmospheric performance of Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony at Southwell Minster. This was a fitting tribute in this 50th Anniversary of the great composer’s death. Soprano Rebecca von Lipinski particularly impressed the audience with the beautiful tone and power of her voice in this most magnificent of settings.’
